Mojave Water Agency

California Rural Water Association in partnership with Mojave Water Agency (MWA) and in support of the Integrated Regional Water Management Plan is offering a series of free trainings designed to enhance your knowledge of the water industry. These no-cost workshops are beneficial for Water Operators and System Managers of Private, Public and Tribal Systems.

This course highlights the importance of generators on our water distribution systems. Loss of electricity quickly becomes a major challenge during natural disasters and could raise public health concerns. Without backup power for an extended period, many water services cannot be provided. This training course provides tools and prompts utilities to better prepare for emergency generator needs, provides tips on running and maintaining generators, and documenting backup power needs.
Theoretical and Practical Course Contents:
• Engine – General Overview
• Alternator and Controls Overview
• Automatic Transfer Switch Overview
• Basic Operation
• Fuel Types
• Maintenance – Oil Sampling, Fuel Sampling, Coolant Sampling
• Remote Monitoring

The intended audience for this course is all end users responsible for their facilities’ backup generators and transfer switches. This includes but is not limited to the following personnel: operators, mechanics, electricians, maintenance managers, site managers, superintendents, or other management staff responsible for ensuring their generator not only starts when it’s needed but also adheres to all local and state requirements.
